Plans For New Drug Rehab Center in Georgia Cancelled
Plans to build a new inpatient drug rehab center in Georgia have officially been cancelled. The plan called for five new buildings on a 61-acre property in Lawrenceville that would have offered counseling and therapy for individuals addicted to drugs and illicit substances.
Unfortunately, plans to build the rehab center will not be moving forward after residents and one state lawmaker argued that the facility would rise concerns about security and property value.
The project was headed by Chad Millsaps, director of another local facility that treats chemical dependency and behavioral health issues. Millsaps says he initially commissioned the project earlier this spring in an effort to lower heroin and opiate abuse rates in the community. Millsaps himself is a recovering addict who went through addiction treatment four years ago.
